Title
A RESOLUTION CONCERNING MARYLAND-NATIONAL CAPITAL PARK AND PLANNING COMMISSION - PROJECT CHARGE REALLOCATION for the purpose of approving certain transfers of appropriations and expenditures within the Approved Fiscal Year 2025 Operating Budget for the Recreation Fund.
Background
On May 23, 2024, the County Council adopted the FY 2025 Budget for Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. The adopted budget set aside $9.023 million from the Recreation Fund to support community-based recreation programming through project charges to eligible organizations. In October 2024, the Council set forth in CR-066-2024 how these project charge funds would be distributed to specified organizations. In response to changes in the community's recreation needs, the Council proposes reallocating project charge funding across six organizations. The proposed reallocation increases funding to Joan's House ($200,000) and the Boris L. Henson Foundation ($200,000). The proposed reallocation reduces funding to the 100 Black Men of Prince George's County, Inc ($75,000) and eliminates funding for the following programs: Silence the Shame; The Village Network; and the Town of Forest Heights (Youth & Community Programming).
